KB: Customers Migrating from WebWatchBot Version 4 to Version 5
Eligibility
If you have purchased WebWatchBot 4.0 on or after August 1, 2006 or if you have a current ASA,
you are entitled to a free upgrade to WebWatchBot version 5.0.
Unsure if you are eligible? Login to check your license purchase date and/or ASA.
Requirements
This upgrade requires that your current WebWatchBot version 4.0 license key be deactivated
before a WebWatchBot version 5.0 license key can be issued.
Please note that WebWatchBot version 4.0 license keys will not work with WebWatchBot
version 5.0.
Upgrade Steps
- Back-up your version 4 data (Optional). Though data is not removed or changed during
the upgrade, you may wish to back-up your data.
- If WebWatchBot is using the Standard (Access) database:
- Navigate to the data folder: In WebWatchBot, select the menu options Help ->
ExclamationSoft Support -> View Data Folder
- Back-up all files and sub-folders.
- If WebWatchBot is using SQL Server
- Navigate to the data folder: In WebWatchBot, select the menu options Help ->
ExclamationSoft Support -> View Data Folder
- Back-up all files and sub-folders.
- In SQL Server, back-up the database named WebWatchBot.
- Download WebWatchBot version 5. You are downloading the trial version of the software which
is activated with a license key that unlocks the features for the Professional or Enterprise version.
- Install WebWatchBot version 5 (both version 4 and version 5 can be installed at the same time
on the same computer; however, only version 5 will run in Service Mode. This means that version 4 will not run/monitor unless
it is configured to run in Application Mode). View a complete installation
guide for WebWatchBot.
- Deactivate your version 4 license key:

- Contact ExclamationSoft Support.
- Simply write "Request version 5 upgrade license key". If you are not the primary
contact, please provide the name of the primary, email, and company name to speed
up the process of locating your customer record.
- We will verify that the version 4 license key has been deactivated and issue you a new
license key. Once version 5 is installed, it normally provides 14 days until activation
in the event the new license key is not issued the same day.
- Please be advised that our normal response time is around 2 hours during normal operating hours.
- We do not recommend upgrading close to or after 5 p.m. EST/EDT in the event of a problem with your upgrade, since we
will not be able to assist you until the following business day at 9 a.m. EST/EDT.
- Activate your new version 5 license key. Instructions are available in
the Customer Center.
- Uninstall version 4 (Optional).
