Follow these steps to move an existing WebWatchBot v4.0
installation from one computer to another.
The "source" machine refers to the existing installation and
the "target" refers to the machine WebWatchBot will be moved to.
- On the
source machine de-activate the license key.

- On the
target machine:
- Install WebWatchBot.
- Activate the license key.
- Locate the data folder: In WebWatchBot Manager, select
from the menu: Help -> ExclamationSoft Support -> View Data
Folder. A window should open at the
location of the data files. Keep
this window open.
- Stop the WebWatchBot service: Tools -> Stop Service.
- Close WebWatchBot Manager.
- On the
source machine, locate the data folder:
- In
WebWatchBot Manager, select from the menu: Help -> ExclamationSoft
Support -> View Data Folder. A
window should open at the location of the data files.
- Copy
all files and sub-folders from the source machine to the data folder on
the target machine. In most cases,
the data folder on the target machine will be in the same location, e.g. C:\Documents
and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ExclamationSoft\WebWatchBot 4.
- Verify
the date and time of the file of the files and folders on the target
machine to ensure a successful copy.
- On the target machine:
- If WebWatchBot is using SQL Server as its back-end
database to store its data:
- Start
WebWatchBot Manager but do not start the service when prompted.
- Point
WebWatchBot to the desired SQL Server instance:
- Tools -> Preferences, Advanced Properties, Database
- Enter the name of the SQL Server instance in the "source"
field.
- Enter the username in the "username" field.
- Enter the password in the "password" field.
- Ensure that "Auto Generate" is set to "True".
- Click OK.
- Verify your Watch Items, transactions, and especially email settings.
- If WebWatchBot is using the Standard database as its
back-end to store its data:
- Start
WebWatchBot Manager but do not start the service when prompted.
- Verify
your Watch Items, transactions, and especially email settings.
- Once the configuration is verified, start the WebWatchBot
service: Tools -> Start Service.
