The Mail Server tab under the Preferences dialog
controls time settings for RemoteBot.
There are two Server Timouts that can be set:
- Connection Timeout controls the amount of
time that RemoteBot will wait to connect to the POP and SMTP mail
servers. If RemoteBot displays the message "...Timed Out"
often, change this setting to a higher value. By default, the
connection timeout is 1 minute.
- Send and Receive Timeout controls the amount of time that RemoteBot
will allow for transferring files. If a file transfer segment
takes more than this setting allows, the connection will timeout.
If RemoteBot displays the message "...Timed Out" often, change this
setting to a higher value. By default, the Send and Receive
timeout is 10 minutes.
Under "Change frequency that RemoteBot checks for
new tasks" you can set the amount of time that RemoteBot will wait between
checking for new tasks. If you plan on using RemoteBot frequently,
set the frequency to a short time span. If you plan on using
RemoteBot infrequently, set the frequency to a longer time. The
shortest amount of time that can be set is 15 seconds, and the longest
amount of time is 20 minutes.
**IMPORTANT**
you plan on using/sharing one email address for RemoteBot, you
should configure RemoteBot to check for new tasks every 2 minutes
or longer if you have a modem connection of 56K or slower.
This will eliminate any potential conflicts when trying to delete messages
from the
POP3
server. (In order to delete a message on a
POP3
server, only one
program can be logged in at a time. Otherwise, the messages will not be deleted. )
